Inverness – Capital of the Scottish Highlands and Gateway to Loch Ness.

The third Social Travel Summit will be held in Inverness, Scotland on 20-21 September 2016. We recently visited the venues in Inverness, the Capital of the Scottish Highlands, together with our hosts Visit Britain and Visit Inverness Loch Ness.

The conference will be held at the Kingsmills Hotel where we will have a plenary hall and breakout rooms. Set amidst beautiful gardens (and a golf course), the Kingsmills Hotel is a short ten-minute walk from the Inverness town centre.

The arrival date for all delegates is Monday, 19 September. In the afternoon, delegates will have a choice of three tours which will show them the natural, historical and cultural highlights of the region. In the evening, the delegates will be welcomed at the STS Opening Reception, which will be held at a Scottish pub in the town centre. This promises to be a relaxing evening with music, food and drinks, and ample networking opportunities.

The conference kicks off at 9am on Tuesday, 20 September. The STS programme, designed by Janice Waugh, our Conference Director, reflects the main objectives of STS to present new insights from experts, promote knowledge-sharing and thought-provoking discussions, as well as create an easy-going atmosphere in which delegates can network. All of the speakers are confirmed; they include Doug Lansky, who will speak about the ‘Future of Travel Media and Travel Marketing’; Richard Millington, ‘The Value of Communities and How to Manage Them’; Erik van Erp, ‘The Business Case for SEO and How to Get Google to Love You’; and Jackie Fast, ‘Sponsorship: Finding the Perfect Partner and Getting Great Results for All’. In addition, brainstorming and lively discussions will take centre stage in our STS Think Tank and Peer-to-Peer sessions.
