This year’s Social Travel Summit will be in… Belfast!

We are very proud to announce that the 2018 edition of the Social Travel Summit is returning to the United Kingdom!

Taking place on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th September 2018, the Social Travel Summit will be in Belfast, Northern Ireland! Partnering once again with VisitBritain, and with support from Tourism Northern Ireland, the two-day conference will include keynotes by industry leaders, panel presentations and round-table discussions, a number of other knowledge-sharing talks, and multiple relaxed and fun opportunities for networking.

Many of these conversations and discussions form the basis of the Social Travel Summit Think Tank Report which predicts many of the trends and challenges the industry faces. As with previous Social Travel Summits there will also be a lavish gala dinner for delegates as well as welcoming and closing receptions where everyone can enjoy some local Belfast hospitality!

This will be the fifth edition of STS and it sees the event return to the United Kingdom after the success of #STSInverness in 2016, which won a Global Partnership Award at the PR Week Awards. Head of Global PR at Visit Britain/Visit England, Emma Mead, referred to her excitement for the summit and post-conference trips:

We know the powerful role social media plays in promoting the UK to overseas visitors so we’re thrilled to be working in partnership with iambassador again to build on the success of the 2016 conference. We’re looking forward to shining the spotlight on the UK’s vibrant cities, breath-taking countryside, innovative food and drink scene, and rich cultural heritage, to inspire influencers to share their stories globally and drive more overseas visitors to book a trip to the UK.”

Chief Executive of Tourism NI, John McGrillen is also excited to bring more influencers and bloggers to Belfast for STS.

“Social and digital media play an integral role in the international marketing of Northern Ireland’s thriving tourism industry. Securing the hosting rights of Social Travel Summit presents a unique opportunity to tap into the significant influence of the world’s leading travel bloggers. The high level discussions about the future of online travel marketing will provide invaluable insight for the local industry as we aim to attract more out of state visitors to Northern Ireland than ever before.”

The entire iambassador team are looking forward to working with Visit Britain again as well as collaborating with Tourism NI, and iambassador CEO, Keith Jenkins, had this comment about the announcement:

“We’re very excited to bring the Social Travel Summit back to the UK in 2018, this time to Belfast! #STSInverness 2016 was a great success in many respects, resulting in the PRWeek Global Award for ‘Best Global Partnership 2017’ and some of the best feedback we’ve received from delegates. Since its inception in 2014, STS has greatly raised the level of understanding of digital marketing in travel. Moreover, many innovative marketing concepts were conceived at our brainstorming and networking sessions. This year, the fifth edition of STS, we’ll present thought-provoking keynotes, exciting discussions and fun events. Together with our partners VisitBritain and Tourism Northern Ireland, we hope to raise the bar yet again. Belfast is the personification of the spirit of STS: where different communities have built bridges and forged a collaborative path to create a vibrant, bright future together. I was once asked what makes a successful STS and my response was: “When delegates come to me to excitedly describe their long list of learnings and actionable insights.” We look forward to welcoming STS delegates in Belfast in September and creating more ‘lists’ together!”

The Social Travel Summit goes from strength to strength

While only in its fifth year, The Social Travel Summit continues to grow from strength to strength, and has firmly established itself as the leading professional travel industry and influencer conference. Numerous collaborations and campaigns have come about as a result of discussions or networking sessions that took place at previous Social Travel Summits, and each edition continues evolve to offer all delegates from both industry and blogging more knowledge, actionable advice and practical information about how to improve their digital marketing and online content strategies.

If you’re new to The Social Travel Summit we recommend you check out this video from last year’s event in Kitzbühel, in Tirol, Austria, which features some delegates talking about what they’ve learned, what they’ve enjoyed about the conference and how much fun they have too! And yes, there is also quite a bit of dancing to get energy levels up in the morning!
